Info Ibiza: San Jose

San Jose

Holidays in San Jose are spent in relaxed tranquillity, with some of the most beautiful landscapes and beaches in Ibiza. Tourists who rent a luxury villa in San Jose really feel like they're in a calm paradise.

Located in the southwest, the Village of San Jose sits halfway up the side of the island's tallest mountain, Sa Talaia (475 metres high), and is a charming place with bars, a number of famous restaurants offering tapas to pizza, shops, typical winding streets and a fortress church which dates back to the 15th Century. The entertainment in San Jose comes in a more refined way; jazz and blues musicians often play here, or check out the open air 'cinema' which plays films like 'Laurel and hardy' in the summer. As well as being only 5 minutes from some of the most picturesque beaches that Ibiza has to offer.

Good links to Ibiza Town and San Antonio make Holiday villas and accommodation in this area an excellent choice, located halfway between the two towns and less than 10 minutes drive either way.

Included in the San Jose region is:

San Agustin

A tiny hamlet consisting of a few hidden countryside villas dotted around a church, one bar and one small supermarket. The views out onto the countryside in San Agustin are unspoilt and picture perfect, the hills and valleys are covered with olive, almond and carob trees and the only sounds to be heard are the occasional chirping of the crickets.

Cala Conta

This beach has some of the cleanest waters in the Mediterranean, three stretches of deep sand, backed into the rocky terrain with views out onto three smaller islands make it a favourite for holiday makers and locals alike. Located on the most western point of Ibiza, the beach is the idyllic place to watch the sunset, especially whilst sipping champagne in one of the exquisite bar/restaurants.

Villas around this area have some spectacular sea views.

Cala D'Hort

Small but popular with holiday makers this sandy beach offers you a few bar-restaurants and gift shops. The beach has a fantastic view of the mysterious rock or island of Es Vedra, which lies close to the shore.

Es Vedra

The source of numerous myths and legends, and the location of many reported UFO sightings. Believed by some to be the holy island of Tanit, others say it is the island of the sirens in Homers epic. It is also apparently the third most magnetic spot on the earth (compasses don't work in the area). A prominent rocky island 378m tall, inhabited only by wild goats and a colony of endangered species of Eleanor's Falcon, which are often seen flying above Es Vedra. The rock was also featured in the film 'South Pacific' as the mysterious island of 'Bali Hai'.

Villas overlooking Es Vedra are in a sublime location, one sought after by Ibiza veterans, Holiday makers and celebrities alike.

Cala Carbo

A small, sandy cove surrounded by hills and forest. The beach is a very quiet and tranquil, it's a favourite for snorkelling and it has two bar/restaurants. But most of all it's a place to relax and take in the sun on the long summer days of your holiday.

Es Cubells

This pretty and quaint village surrounded by fields of olive and citrus trees leads you onto 3 small beaches. Es Cubells is positioned in a way that nearly all of the villas and accommodation that it holds have fantastic views out onto the Mediterranean and it has the exclusivity and security of a private urbanisation, as well as a few restaurants and small shops. The steep cliff road takes you around to the sand and pebble beaches and another good restaurant. Founded by a Carmelite priest Father Palau I Quer who persuaded the Vatican to fund construction of a chapel in 1855, the village is worth a visit if only for its fantastic panoramic views.

Cala Tarida

A long, wide beach of fine white sand and clean clear waters, backed up by hills urbanised with luxury villas, Cala Tarida is a favourite for people looking for a perfect holiday home. The resort is family friendly and offers bars, restaurants and evening entertainment without the commercialised feel of other tourist spots. Take a walk along the beautiful cliffs around you, taking in some of the most beautiful vistas of Ibiza, or have a snorkel around the coastline marvelling at the fish of all different colours.

Holiday apartments in Cala Tarida are a popular choice for English tourists.

Our agency has a good range of holiday villas and other accommodation in the San José region.
